    Gail- it can be darker or lighter, depending on how much water you use! It's also ERASABLE (it's graphite) until and unless you use a fixative! Since it's water-based, it can also be "tinted" with watercolors, water inks, and even gouache!

    You mentioned that this ink can be used for calligraphy. How does it compare to typical black calligraphy ink (i.e., is it smoother, darker, lighter in color depth, more gloss, etc.)?
