Spring Cleaning: Brush Revival!

Spring is here! The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and it’s the perfect time to give your art supplies a little TLC. As artists, we know that winter months can be busy, with brushes left abandoned in jars or paint tubes collecting dust after months of hibernation. But with a fresh new season ahead, it’s time to show your tools the love they deserve, starting with a good spring cleaning.

Time for a Brush Revival!

If your brushes have been a bit neglected over the colder months, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Whether they’ve been stained with paint, or perhaps left a little too long with dried media on the bristles, cleaning your brushes can feel like an overwhelming task. But it doesn’t have to be!

We’re here to introduce you to one of our absolute favorite products for cleaning and reviving brushes of all types: Jack Richeson Studio Soap.

Why Jack Richeson Studio Soap?

Jack Richeson Studio Soap is an absolute game changer when it comes to washing brushes from all mediums—whether you’re using oils, acrylics, or watercolors. This linseed-based soap is gentle yet effective at breaking down even the most stubborn paint residue, without damaging your brush fibers.

Here’s the best part: even if you’ve let a brush go a little too long or have been a bit rough on your tools, Jack Richeson Studio Soap can revive those brushes. The soap works wonders at bringing your bristles back to life—softening hardened paint, restoring shape, and improving performance.

How to Use Jack Richeson Studio Soap:

  1. Wet Your Brush: Run tepid-to-warm water (never hot) over your brush, making sure it’s saturated.
  2. Lather with Studio Soap: Gently rub your brush into the soap until you create a nice lather.
  3. Rinse and Repeat: Keep rinsing and gently lathering until all the paint comes out. For stubborn spots, give the brush a little extra attention, or even repeat the process if necessary!
  4. Shape and Dry: Once clean, reshape the bristles and allow the brush to air dry. If you're going to store your brushes or travel with them, take a little Studio Soap on your fingertips and use it to protect your bristles.

It’s that simple! And just like that, your brushes are good as new, ready for your next masterpiece.

Check Your Paint Stash: Out with the Old, In with the New!

While you’re in the cleaning spirit, don’t forget to take inventory of your paint stash! Winter can be a time of creative hibernation, and you might not have noticed that some of those paint tubes are running low or even completely used up.

Take a moment to check on your supplies and see if it’s time to refresh your palette. You’ll be amazed at how a fresh batch of paint can inspire new creative energy as the season changes.
